Born and raised in Houston, Reem Shaikh has been actively involved in her local Muslim community from a young age. She completed the memorization of the Quran at the age of seven and started studying Arabic in Egypt soon after. She spent half her life in Qatar, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies from Qatar University. Reem also recently graduated from Harvard Divinity School, where she completed the Master of Theological Studies with a concentration in Islamic Studies. During this time, she served as the Muslim Chaplain at Boston University, where she provided students with spiritual and religious guidance and conducted weekly halaqahs. Reem has earned her ijazah in the Hafs and Warsh Quranic recitations, and is continuing to work other recitations. Additionally, Reem is fluent in English, Arabic, and Urdu.
