QUR111 QURAN RECITATION & MEMORIZATION 1

Course Description:

This course goes over Quran recitation, mastering the basic rules of Tajweed (proper recitation of the Holy Quran), especially the articulation points, non-vowel Noon & Meem. Memorizing some of the short Suras of the Quran is required too; one third of Juz Amma has to be memorized by heart by the end of this course.

Learning Objectives:

  • Establishing a solid relationship with Quran; Reciting and Memorizing.
  • Teaching the rules of Quranic Recitation.
  • Reciting the Quran in a way that retains the correct meaning and the general rules of Arabic Language.
  • Verbally state the manners when reading the Quran آداب التلاوة and the rules of Istia’athah & Basmalah أحكام الاستعاذة والبسملة and practically apply them during each class
  • Learn and apply the following Tajweed rules during class recitation:
    1. Articulation Points of Arabic letters مخارج الحروف
    2. Rules of the non-vowel Noon & Tanween (double short vowels) أحكام النون الساكنة والتنوين
    3. Rules of the non-vowel Meem أحكام الميم السالكنة
    4. Heaviness and lightness of letters التفخيم والترقيق
    5. Shaking letters القلقلة
  • Read and memorize Surat al-Fatihah الفاتحة سورة and the short Suras in the 30th Juza’ : from Surat al-Qadr to Surat an-Nas الناس to القدر
  • Arabic speaking students will be required to memorize Juza’ Amma عمّ in full.
