Chairman: Dr. Mahmoud Rabie

Chairman: Dr. Mike Rabie

Dr. Mahmoud Rabie has held the position of Chairman of the Board of Trustees since 2018. Prior to his current role, Dr. Rabie served as the CEO of Association Health Care Management and as the COO for Westchase Holding Corporation. During his tenure, he spearheaded various initiatives aimed at improving nationwide access to healthcare.

Dr. Rabie obtained his Doctorate in Business Management from Colorado Technical University following the completion of his Master of Business Administration degree at Texas Southern University. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.

With a blend of entrepreneurial acumen and extensive business expertise, Dr. Rabie enriches the Guidance College Board of Trustees with decades of experience. Having called Houston home for over 40 years, he has deeply immersed himself in the local community. Dr. Rabie has previously served as the President of the Arab American Cultural and Community Center, where he advocated for significant causes.

Secretary: Dr. Nidal Zeidat

Having received his Master’s in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Houston–
Dr. Nidal Zeidat has been a Houston native for the past thirthy-two years. Prior to his current position in the oil and gas industry, Dr. Zeidat contributed his many skills and talents to aerospace technology. In addition to serving the community as a Board Member for Guidance College, Dr. Zeidat is a member of the MAS Katy Mosque in Houston where he was the Treasurer for two years.

 

Board Member: Dr. Amr Elbakry

Dr. Amr El-Bakry earned his PhD. from Rice University. He currently works as a Surveillance and Optimization Advisor at ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company. He is also the Vice President for Industry at Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics.  He is a member of The Society of Petroleum Engineers. SPE is the largest individual-member organization serving managers, engineers, scientists, and other professionals worldwide in the upstream segment of the oil and gas industry.

 

Board Member: Dr. Amy Barnhill 

Dr. Amy Barnhill spent her undergraduate years at the University of Iowa focusing on English and Secondary Education. A passion for literacy and teaching propelled her to receive her Masters in Reading and as well as an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. from University of Missouri-Kansas City. For more than a decade Dr. Barnhill has been and Associate Professor at the University of Houston-Victoria in the School of Education, Health Professions and Human Development.
Dr. Barnhill has authored numerous research articles on Literacy and Education. The Canadian Journal of Learning and Technology, American Journal of Educational Research and Language and Literacy are among the journals that have featured Dr. Barnhill’s studies.

Board Member: Dr. Mona Younes

Dr. Younes’ academic career spans two hemispheres. She is an alum of both Alexandria University in Egypt and the University of Houston.  Dr. Younes served as a faculty member at the University of Houston, College of Optometry until her retirement in 2018. In addition to teaching, Dr. Younes  cares for optometry patients at her clinic in Katy, Texas where she has served the Katy community for 20 years.
