Learning Resources Manager

POSITION TITLE: Learning Resources Manager

POSITION DEPARTMENT: Academic Affairs

DESCRIPTION: Responsible to the Chief Academic Administrator (CAA) for managing, developing, and promoting the delivery of learning resources and library services within Guidance College in a manner that helps to enable the achievement of the educational aims and objectives associated the GC’a distance education curriculum.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Execute a collection development policy that implements, evaluates, maintains, and weeds learning resources for undergraduate and graduate academic programs.

· Promote and enforce use strategies through policies in consultation with students and faculty that fully reflect the educational aims and objectives of GC’s mission and academic programs.

· Assist students, faculty and staff with finding and recommending source materials as well as determining what type of materials they need.

· Instruct students regularly about accessing and using resources via announcements, dedicated web pages, email, or ZOOM.

· Manage the learning resources budget effectively and prepare reports for expenditures and effectiveness as well development needs.

· Ensure the effective and efficient use of learning resources management systems to maintain and catalogue records and monitor the use of resources.

· Manage, promote, and evaluate materials such as journals, books and various multimedia materials.

· Maintain an orderly, safe and welcoming online environment for all users.

· Serve as a member of the GC faculty.

· Serve as chairperson of the faculty’s Learning Resources Standing Committee.

· Provide other services related to educational support, learning resources and library services.

· Work with IE to produce collection and use reports, both ad hoc and scheduled.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

· Knowledgeable and experienced with using both print and electronic information sources and databases that support Islamic religious studies and general education at the undergraduate level and Islamic economics & finance, and education at the graduate level.

· Able to use technology and use it to enhance the overall effectiveness of learning resources, including web-based methods of improving technological access to information.

· Knowledgeable and experienced in archiving and filing information as well as maintaining databases and standard references relevant with the curriculum.

· Capable of evaluating learning resources and finding the best ones for addressing different questions or issues.

· Able to quickly and professionally search databases, internet resources, and catalogs to find needed information.

· Able to communicate well with GC personnel as well as with all patrons and guests.

· Broad knowledge of learning resources. Should be well read in a variety of genres and types of books (Islamic Studies, General Education, and Finance in particular) in order to advise readers as to good books for their reading level and their interests.

· Strong level of didactic coaching skills used to instruct students about using APA

· Strong level of people service skills.

Supervision Given and Received: Determines own methods of performing assigned work where definite academic objectives have been established and requiring a wide range of procedures. Coordinates goals and action plans with the Institutional Effectiveness Administrator for achieving student learning improvement.

Accountability and Evaluation: Reports to CAA. Participates in an annual personnel review. Receives occasional outside peer review via feedback from vendors and learning resources representatives.

 Preferred Position Qualifications: Master’s degree in library science or library information systems from an accredited school. Three or more years of professional experience in a library setting, academic or otherwise.

Learning Management System Facilitator

POSITION TITLE: Learning Management System Facilitator

POSITION DEPARTMENT: Student Services & Development

DESCRIPTION: Responsible to the Chief Student Services & Development Administrator (CSS&DA) for facilitating the delivery of curricula for all academic programs within Guidance College in a manner that enables the achievement of the educational aims and objectives associated the GC’a distance education curriculum.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Perform all regular duties and assigned tasks under the CSS&DA’s supervision.

· Assist students, faculty with guidance for course delivery and reception of assigned course work and grading.

· Assist students regularly about accessing and using the LMS via announcements, dedicated web pages, email, or ZOOM.

· Collaborate with CSS&DA and the Institutional Effectiveness Administrator for the timely delivery learning outcomes assessments and other designated assessments.

· Maintain punctual schedule for online course delivery in an orderly, safe, and welcoming online environment for all users.

· Actively communicate with the CSS&DA on demand or agreed meeting times.

· File a weekly report for tasks performance evaluation via the attached Performance Expectations.

· Set goals to improve the whole learning management system environment.

· Demonstrate a readiness to work a given task over and over again, in order to deliver high end solutions that work well for students and faculty.

· Able to quickly and professionally address student complaints about LMS operation and redirect any and all complaints to the CSS&DA.

· Provide other services related to educational support and learning resources services.

· Work with IE to produce collection and use reports, both ad hoc and scheduled.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

· Knowledgeable and experienced about online course delivery with documented and successful training using technology.

· Able to use technology to enhance the overall effectiveness of Guidance College’s learning management system and its intended purposes for student achievement.

· Knowledgeable and experienced in electronic archiving and filing of information as well as maintaining a course curriculum catalog within higher education environment.

· Demonstrates satisfying communication skills and practice for effective systems support as the Learning Management System Facilitator.

Coordinates goals and action plans with the Institutional Effectiveness Administrator for achieving student learning improvement.

Preferred Position Qualifications: Associate’s degree in with 12 more credit hours using technology from an accredited and recognized college or university via the USDE. Two-three or more years of professional experience in a learning management systems environment.

Islamic Economics & Finance Adjunct

Job Description:

Adjunct faculty serves as temporary part-time faculty and are appointed as needed on a semester-by-semester basis. The primary duty is effective teaching at the graduate level in the Guidance College Master of Arts Islamic Economics & Finance.

This faculty instruction position is solely performed using remote synchronous technology. There are no campus courses offered.

This position reports to the Chief Academic Administrator and is responsible for presenting course materials in an organized manner that are associated with student learning outcomes, assignments, and evaluation/testing; teaching evenings and weekends; maintaining classroom routines and student records (FERPA) using the campus LMS; being available for one (1) hour per week at a designated time for student interaction and mentoring using the LMS chat function; meet all deadlines per contract for concluding course and turning in grading and allowing time for a written student course evaluation toward the end of the course. All professors must exhibit professional conduct and interaction with all members of the Guidance College community and avoid all manner of inappropriate actions and words that could be deemed as harassment of demeaning.

Must have a proven background in Islamic Finance and Economics that includes a deep understanding of relevant Shariat law for this position.
